Dear LaShars Parents and Students: We are happy to be at least partially back to class and thank you for your patience and support! Here is a quick update to let you know what is going on and what our plans our for now.
We will continue to hold regular classes through the end of May. By regular, I mean with no one in the waiting room, distancing, hand washing, sanitizing, and under 10 students until further notice. This will be evaluated weekly and adjustments made appropriately. It is not a problem if you feel it best to wait until Fall. We understand every situation is different. If you paid tuition ahead for any other months it can be credited forward through May, Summer lessons, Fall lessons, or you can get a refund. To pay tuition, we will send you an invoice from square and it can be paid online or you can send a check to class.
We plan to go forward and have a dance recital the first week of June. This will happen one of two ways depending on what is recommended and allowed at that time-Option 1: A digital performance where each class will perform all routines including the opener and finale. Filmed individually and recorded on stage if possible or at the studio if necessary. Option 2: a live performance on stage if cleared and allowed by the school. More details will follow as it becomes clear what will be best.
For the rest of the season- till the end of May, we are asking some classes to combine due to small number. This can be reevaluated the first week of May if we have more who want to participate. Tuesday 4:00-5:00 Hip Hop and Tumbling combined Tuesday 5:00-6:00 3rd to 5th Grades Tuesday 5:30-6:30 1st to 3rd Grades Tuesday 6:00- 6:45 Pre-school class will need to attend with the Wed. 10:00 class or Thursday 5:15 Thursday 4:00-5:00 1st and 2nd Grades & Mini LaShars Thursday 5:15-6:00 Kindergarten & Mini LaShars The Mini’s class can choose either Thursday class until we have the numbers to resume regular class. The Summer and Fall Schedules will be posted by this weekend on the facebook page and the Website. Thank you! For tuition purposes, we only had one full week of class plus a Monday and Tuesday in March. Calculate April according to how many classes you attended. We started back on a small scale April 13th. We will continue through the month of May and Summer classes start June 1st. LaShars Staff
Hair Tips: *Find the clip photos below to know where to place the barettes for our dancers wearing the burgundy costume. *Please make sure that the ends are curled. *Fewer and larger ponytails look better than several small ones.
Makeup tips and reminders:
*Makeup video is a general reference for colors and tips. It does not need to be followed exactly. *Sr. Company and older MUST wear false eyelashes. Younger dancers need to at least have eye makeup in brown/darkish tones, red/burgundy lipstick (not gloss) and blush that shows up.
Festival of Trees Information:
Friday December 6th is our performance at Festival of Trees at the Sandy Expo Center at 11:30. You will need to meet teachers at the entertainment area inside the Expo Center no later than 10:45. Please leave early and give yourself plenty of time to get there through traffic and to park. It will be very busy. You will need to be in your costume with hair and makeup on ready to dance. As always, costumes should be covered when not performing. Bring your tap shoes, tights with no holes, dance paws & tap shoes, and hair clips that go with your costume (dynastarz and minis will get theirs soon) Bra straps should not show at all- clear or no straps are best.
We will take the dancers into the holding/reahearsal area as soon as it is open. Parents will not be allowed in the holding area or backstage. After the performance, we will take the dancers back to the holding area to change, collect belongings and to meet parents. Then dancers will e free to go enjoy the rest of the day. There are hundreds of amazing trees, wreaths, gingerbread houses and more to look at; yummy treats, and some fun inexpensive activities for kids. Of course Santa will also be there!
There is no charge for dancers, they will get their hands stamped when they check in. Parents and family can purchase tickets at the door. All funds go to help children and their families at Primary Children's Hospital.
Our team practice is Wednesday the 4th from 4:00-5:30. If you need extra help with Christmas routines plan to stay after until 6:30.
All our dancers have worked so hard to be ready for this amazing opportunity! We are so proud of you. This is going to be awesome!
